Designer and visual consultant Steve Bass is a founding partner of Hasbas Entertainment. In collaboration with his partner Sylvia Hase, they have together created some of the most memorable spectacles and theater productions for global entertainment giants Disney, Universal, and DreamWorks. Steve leads the visual design for video-based and mapping projects, for events such as the Grand Opening for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Hollywood, and the Shanghai Disney Opening Gala, featuring projection mapping on Disney's largest castle ever built. Mixed media projects include fountain and water shows such as the Lunar New Year celebration at World of Color.
His live show design includes mega-hits from Disney: the Lion King Celebration and a theatrical production of The Little Mermaid which to date has played to over 25 million guests, as well as the national tour of Disney’s Symphonic Fantasy, Sesame Street Live and Curious George. Recent live productions include DreamWorks Madagascar Live!, Disney’s Mickey and the Wondrous Book, the Mad T Party: an innovative experiential nightclub, and the award-winning Starlight Parade for Universal Studios Japan. Corporate design includes auto giants Lexus, Toyota, and Mercedes.
In addition to his theatrical work, Steve has designed many of the most prestigious televised shows produced, including the Oscars, Grammys, Emmys and Tonys. Worldwide audiences have seen his work on the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Atlanta Olympics, Salt Lake Olympics Medals Plaza, The Democratic Convention, and the Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial for President Obama. Steve has a long-standing history designing for iconic television programs such as Great Performances, Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice, the Kennedy Center Honors, TV Land Awards, and Entertainment Tonight. He is the recipient of 3 Emmy Awards and 3 awards for excellence from the Art Directors Guild.
